Memorial Day week just got a whole lot more exciting! While the holiday kicks off the week, there is no reason the scientific fun has to stop for curious explorers ages 5 to 6. Starting Tuesday, Wacky Science at IDEA Lab Kids (Spring Branch) turns the typical classroom into a high-energy laboratory where the laws of physics and chemistry come to life through hands-on discovery. Throughout the session, campers investigate the mysterious properties of polymers, engineer erupting volcanoes, and experiment with the strange behavior of non-Newtonian fluids—learning exactly what it takes to create the perfect batch of glow-in-the-dark slime. These tactile activities are designed to do more than just entertain; they help junior scientists develop early scientific literacy, practice the scientific method, and sharpen fine motor skills as they measure, pour, and observe with precision. Because true scientific inquiry can be a bit messy, please send your child in comfortable play clothes and closed-toe shoes that are ready for some splatters. To make your holiday week even easier, lunch is provided by the campus for all campers this week, though your child should still bring a nut-free snack and a refillable water bottle to stay fueled for a full day of experimentation.
