IDEA Lab Kids Spring Branch is a STEAM enrichment campus in Houston's Spring Branch area offering after-school programs, camps, workshops, leagues, preschool classes, Spanish immersion, and tutoring for children ages 3.5 and up through middle school. Their Design-Based Learning approach blends science, technology, engineering, arts, and math into hands-on projects kids actually love — using on-site equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, drones, coding stations, and a culinary kitchen. Camp themes span a wide range including cooking and culinary arts, robotics, drone engineering, science experiments, space and dinosaur exploration, medical science, art and animation, coding, game design, movie production, and entrepreneurship. Kids are grouped by age — early childhood, lower elementary, upper elementary, and middle school — so activities are always developmentally appropriate. The after-school program runs daily after school dismissal, and camps follow a structured daily flow of lessons, snack time, lunch break, small group activities, and a closing ceremony. Before care and aftercare are available for an additional daily fee. All staff are FBI background-checked, CPR and First Aid certified, and participate in ongoing professional development. Children must be fully potty-trained to enroll. Comfortable clothes that can get dirty are strongly recommended — cooking, slime, art, and robotics can all make for a messy (and memorable) day. Lunch is not provided — parents should pack a lunch for their camper daily.
