Juneteenth marks a special conclusion to our week, and what better way to celebrate than through the power of music and community? Geared toward enthusiastic young musicians ages 8 to 12 with at least one year of experience, the Play & Progress Camp at Austin Soundwaves is the perfect environment to take those skills to the next level. Throughout the session, students will dive into daily ensemble rehearsals and engaging electives—ranging from conducting to beat making—designed to strengthen tone, technique, and reading proficiency. It’s a supportive, structured space where kids build musical independence and the confidence needed for their second year of playing and beyond, all leading up to a celebratory performance. To stay focused and energized, please have your child wear comfortable casual clothing and pack a nut-free lunch and a water bottle to enjoy during breaks. Students should also bring their own instrument and a music stand for rehearsals. Extended care is available for an additional cost if you need a bit more flexibility in your schedule.
