About

Lady Bird Lake is the classroom — and for middle schoolers in grades 6–8, it doesn't get more Austin than that. Texas Rowing Center's Middle School Summer Camp is a full-day water adventure program built around mornings on the water learning to row, with afternoons that expand into kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddling, hiking, and swimming. Every week runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, giving campers a full immersion in outdoor skills, water confidence, and the kind of teamwork that comes from navigating a boat together. Whether your kid is brand new to rowing or just looking for a summer that trades screens for paddles, this camp delivers a genuinely active, nature-first experience on one of Austin's most iconic waterways. Closed-toed shoes — crocs or water shoes work great — are a must. Campers should also come with a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, a towel, a hat, sunglasses, and a bag or backpack for belongings. Pack a lunch and snacks for your camper each day. If your child requires medicine or allergy treatments, bring those along as well. Sessions run weekly throughout June and into early July — spots are limited, so grab your adventurer's week before it fills up.
