About
Texas Rowing Center (TRC) is Austin's most popular water sports destination, located on Lady Bird Lake behind Austin High School, and has been introducing kids and families to kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and rowing since 1987. TRC offers weekly summer camps for grades 2–12 — Elementary campers enjoy kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, and arts & crafts with outings to Deep Eddy Pool and the Austin Nature Center; Middle Schoolers combine rowing in the mornings with kayaking, canoeing, SUP, hiking, and swimming in the afternoons; and High Schoolers focus on learning and developing rowing skills on the water — as well as an after-school Juniors Program (Recreational and Competitive Crew) for grades 6–12 that qualifies for off-campus PE credit at AISD, Eanes, RRISD, Leander, Lake Travis, and other districts. No prior experience is needed for any program, and camp sessions are kept small at 10–20 kids with a 1:4–5 counselor-to-camper ratio. Families can also rent kayaks, paddleboards (SUP), and canoes directly on-site for a fun day out on the lake. Snacks and lunch are not provided — kids must bring their own each day, along with a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, a towel, a hat, sunglasses, closed-toe shoes or water shoes, and any required medicine or allergy treatments. AISD Holiday Camps are also available on school out days throughout the year.
