Every game your child loves started with someone who knew how to build it — and at IDEA Lab Kids' Beginner Coding and Game Design camp, kids ages 7-9 take their first real steps into that world. Using beginner-friendly platforms like Scratch, MakeCode, and Code Combat, young coders learn foundational programming concepts through hands-on game creation projects that make abstract ideas feel immediately rewarding. Campers write their first lines of code, design characters and rules, and watch their games come to life — building computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and the confidence to keep creating long after camp ends. Sessions run 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM daily — a perfect afternoon option throughout the summer. Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes are all kids need. Kids should bring their own nut-free snack and a water bottle each day. Extended care is available after camp for an additional fee with pickup as late as 6:00 PM. Multiple sessions run throughout the summer — lock in your young coder's seat before spots fill up.
