About
Young People's Workshops in Austin is an accredited Spanish immersion school and enrichment community serving children from infancy through 5th grade across four Austin campuses, with the Westlake location on Bee Caves Road serving as a natural home base for West Lake Hills families. Spanish isn't just a subject here — it's the language of the entire day, woven into every activity, conversation, game, and creative project so that children build bilingual fluency the same way they learn their first language: naturally, joyfully, and with real confidence. The After School program for children ages 5–12 picks kids up directly from partner elementary schools in both the Westlake and Central Austin areas and brings them into an afternoon built around a Spanish workshop, reading and writing comprehension, listening and conversation practice, and a rotating enrichment block covering art, science and technology, cooking, and music and movement — all before outdoor play and team-building round out the day through pickup at 6:00pm. Summer camps expand the experience into 28-plus themed weeks for children starting at age 3, with sessions spanning robotics and coding, kinetic sculpture, storybook science, Spanish cooking, cooperative games, advanced art, sustainability engineering, and much more — available in half-day and full-day formats with before care starting at 7:30am and after care running until 6:00pm for maximum family flexibility. For after school, kids should bring a homework folder, water bottle, snack, and comfortable clothes. For camps, pack a lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, and a morning and afternoon snack — an afternoon snack is also provided during after care. Research on Spanish immersion consistently shows that bilingual students meet or exceed their monolingual peers in English language arts and math, and YPW's whole-child approach — balancing academic rigor, creative exploration, and social-emotional growth — means children leave each day having genuinely learned something and had a genuinely great time doing it. For Austin families who want their child to grow up bilingual and curious, YPW is where that journey begins.
