About
The Spinning Wheel ATX is Leander's most distinctive and joyfully creative art and ceramics studio — located at 2205 South Bagdad Road and founded by Rakhi, whose passion for turning everyday recycled materials and raw clay into extraordinary, personalized works of art has built one of the most beloved and community-centered creative spaces in the greater Austin area, consistently described by guests of all ages as one of the most inspiring and genuinely fun artistic experiences they've ever had. The studio offers over 60 different individual and group workshops and experiences: pottery wheel throwing, hand-building ceramics, bisque glazing, mosaic art (including personalized 8×8 wooden mosaic panels), dot art and mandala painting, recycled-material craft, mixed media, fluidity art, tie-dye, macramé, paint-and-sip sessions, and more — all designed for all ages and all skill levels, from first-time creators through experienced artists who want a new challenge. Children's programs include a 12-week art program, an after-school art program, and summer camps running May through August for ages 3–7 (Mon–Fri, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.) and ages 8–13 with weekly clay and pottery themes. At summer camp, daily treats (popsicle and cookies) are provided; campers should also bring their own food, snacks, and drinks for the rest of the day. A fabulous outdoor backyard area provides space for fresh-air crafting, celebrations, and parties. Early drop-off (8–10 a.m.) and late pickup (3–5 p.m.) are available for an additional fee. All art materials are provided. Wear clothes that can get clay and paint on them.
