Nature Discovery Center

Tucked inside a 4-acre nature park in Bellaire, the Nature Discovery Center is a nonprofit haven where kids get their hands dirty, their curiosity sparked, and their love for the natural world firmly planted. Through classes, camps, and drop-in programs, children from babies all the way to grade schoolers explore insects, plants, birds, and local wildlife in a setting that feels more like an adventure than a lesson — because it is. Little ones ages 0–2 can join Pollywogs, a sweet mix of stories, live animal encounters, and sensory play designed especially for the youngest nature lovers, while older kids dig into Summer Science Camps (ages 5–10) spanning six different themes, and Half-Day Mini Camps (ages 4–7) for a shorter, equally fun nature fix. Weekly Nature Story Time is free and open to all, and the on-site Discovery Rooms bring live animals and nature specimens up close year-round. Snacks are not provided, so pack one for your child. Dress kids in clothes you don't mind getting muddy and closed-toe shoes — this is the kind of place where exploring means getting into it. Whether your child spots their first turtle or touches a live rabbit for the first time, the Nature Discovery Center turns every visit into a memory they'll talk about all week.
