About

Did you know field hockey is the 4th most played team sport in the world — and your child could be the next Texan to fall in love with it? Lone Star Field Hockey Club is a non-profit club founded by passionate Irish coaches who started with just 4 players in 2015 and have since grown to 300+ members across Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Oklahoma City, with 30+ coaches representing 14 countries bringing a truly global perspective to the game. For Austin families, the Junior Summer Camp is the perfect introduction — designed for kids ages 6–12 of all experience levels and held indoors at St. Andrew's Episcopal School, so campers stay cool while they train. Each daily session is led by experienced Lone Star coaches covering fundamental stick skills, gameplay drills, and scrimmages in a fun, supportive environment where no prior experience is needed. Beyond camp, Lone Star also offers weekly seasonal training on Sundays for ages 5–19 through Club and Select programs, a competitive Austin Middle School League for older players, and a Travel Team pathway that has seen 14 players recruited to NCAA Division I programs and 18 to Division III programs. Kids should come in athletic wear and tennis shoes — no cleats needed for the indoor camp — along with a water bottle, shin guards, and a mouth guard; beginners don't need to bring a stick as the club can lend one. Pack a snack to keep your child fueled through the morning session. Whether your child has never held a stick or is ready to compete at the next level, Lone Star Field Hockey is where Austin kids discover a sport they'll carry with them for life.
