About
At Journey Martial Arts, kids ages 4–12 don't just learn kicks and blocks — they build the focus, confidence, and character that carry them far beyond the mat. Led by 6th Degree Black Belt Mr. K and lead instructor Ms. McDonald, this warm Northwest Hills Austin studio has guided more than 1,000 families through a Korean-style Taekwondo curriculum that weaves in life skills like respect, perseverance, and self-control at every level. Little Tigers (ages 4–6) develop body awareness and listening skills through playful, structured drills, while Kids Martial Arts students (ages 6–12) progress through forms, kicking combinations, self-defense, and sparring in an energetic class environment where every child stays actively engaged — no one sits on the bench. Comfortable athletic clothing works for the first class; students will need a dobok (uniform available through the studio) for ongoing training, and all mat time is barefoot. Pack a snack and a labeled water bottle to keep energy up between drills. The studio also offers an adaptive program for students with special needs, flexible scheduling with make-up classes, and small class sizes that let instructors meet every kid where they are — making Journey Martial Arts a place where children genuinely want to come back, belt after belt.
