About
Ice & Field at The Crossover in Cedar Park is one of the Austin area's premier destinations for ice skating and hockey, offering a range of structured programs for kids across two full-sized NHL rinks. The Learn to Skate program — built on the nationally recognized Learn to Skate USA curriculum — welcomes beginners as young as 3 in Snowplow Sam classes and progresses through Basic, Pre-Free Skate, and Free Skate levels for figure skating-track skaters, and through Hockey Skating levels for those headed toward the ice in a different direction. Each class is 30 minutes, taught by certified instructors, and structured to build balance, technique, agility, and confidence at every stage. Once young hockey players have developed their skating foundation, they move into Learn to Play Hockey — where they pick up stickhandling, shooting, passing, and scrimmaging with full gear on — and from there into youth leagues through AMHA. An Adaptive Skating program is also available, offering one-on-one instruction tailored to skaters of all ages with physical, cognitive, sensory, or developmental disabilities, with no prior experience required. During the summer, the Recreation Camp runs as a full-day program packed with ice skating, soccer, flag football, taekwondo, volleyball, arts and crafts, and more — with lunch provided each day. For Learn to Skate classes, kids need a helmet, gloves or mittens, and warm layers — rental skates are included for beginning levels, though advanced skaters will need their own. For Learn to Play Hockey, full hockey gear is required. Camp kids should come dressed in comfortable athletic clothing with an extra layer for their time on the ice. Snacks are not provided for Learn to Skate or hockey classes — plan to pack one for after class. Whether your child is stepping on the ice for the very first time or working toward their first league game, Ice & Field has a clear, well-supported path to get them there.
