If your child has ever dreamed of dancing on stage, Dance Arts Pflugerville (DAP) is the studio that will help them get there — with the technique, confidence, and joy to back it up. Founded by Erin Marie Akin-Thomas, a 20-year professional dance career veteran and champion Ballroom & Latin dancer, DAP is a judgment-free studio in Pflugerville where children of all ages and levels are welcomed, supported, and trained with proper alignment and technique from day one. The Children's Program offers semester-based weekly classes in Ballet, Combo (Ballet + Tap), Contemporary, Tap, and Jazz, with flexible enrollment options including drop-ins and class packs to fit any schedule — and a My Minnie & Me toddler program brings the magic of movement to the youngest dancers too. Each semester wraps up with an optional Spring Performance where kids take the stage and celebrate everything they've worked toward. For attire, female students should wear a leotard and tights (skirts are welcome but not required), while male students should wear a form-fitted t-shirt with leggings or shorts — no specific color or brand is required. Ballet slippers are required for all Ballet, Combo, and Contemporary classes, and tap shoes are required for tap classes (changed into mid-class); all students should arrive in street shoes and change into dance shoes upstairs before entering the studio. Hair should be up and out of your child's face, and please skip overly ornate outfits that could be distracting — dance shoes are best purchased in-store to ensure a proper fit. On performance days, pack a labeled water bottle, nut-free non-messy snacks, quiet activities for downtime, and a zip-up jacket or cut-neck t-shirt as a cover-up that won't disturb hair or makeup.
