Band Aid School of Music is Austin's premier performance-based music school, founded in 2009 by James Mays — whose passion for building great youth bands has shaped generations of young Austin musicians — and the only National Champion Rock Band School in Texas. Serving students from infants through adults at its South Austin and Westlake Hills locations, Band Aid offers private lessons and group classes in an impressive range of instruments including piano, guitar, bass, drums, voice, violin, mandolin, banjo, brass, and woodwinds, as well as audio recording and musical theater. What truly sets Band Aid apart is its commitment to real performance: students take the stage twice a year at landmark Austin venues and are encouraged to play live at festivals and community events throughout the year, giving them the kind of real-world experience most school music programs never provide. Month-to-month enrollment with no contracts keeps the process simple for families. Since sessions are held in a studio setting, pack a water bottle and a snack; comfortable clothing is all that's needed.
