About
Led by director Jennifer Felkner — a professionally trained ballet dancer with a BFA in Dance and over 20 years of teaching experience rooted in training with former New York City Ballet, Bolshoi, and Kirov dancers — Austin School of Classical Ballet has spent more than two decades offering some of the finest classical ballet instruction in Austin. The school teaches using the Vaganova method, a time-tested Russian classical technique known for developing strong turnout, high extensions, fluid upper bodies, and a solid technical foundation that prepares dancers for virtually any style — all while being body-friendly and minimizing injury risk. Beginning with Pre-Ballet for ages 5–7, students progress through a thoughtfully structured series of levels all the way through Advanced and Professional training, with each student admitted and placed by audition to ensure they're always training at the right stage of development. Class sizes are intentionally kept small so every dancer receives individualized correction and personalized attention. As students advance, Pointe work, Variations, and an optional Contemporary class become part of the training, and an annual recital at the end of each school year gives every dancer a real stage moment to celebrate their growth — costumes provided at no extra cost. Specific attire and ballet shoes are required — parents should confirm dress code details at enrollment. Snacks are not provided, so pack one to keep your young dancer fueled and focused. Whether your child is taking their first plié or working toward a professional path, Austin School of Classical Ballet gives them the technique, the discipline, and the artistry to become the dancer they're meant to be.
