Still in Costume? Here’s Where to Take Your Kid After Halloween!

Every parent knows the feeling: your kid gets hooked on a character and suddenly it’s their whole personality. The race car phase, the princess era, the superhero obsession — and of course, the Halloween costume that mysteriously becomes an everyday uniform.
What if you could take that passion a step further? Not just for Halloween, but as an activity they’ll remember all year long. Here are some of our favorite “costume-to-class” pairings in Austin.

🚗 The Racer
If your child dreams of being the next Lewis Hamilton, Austin is the perfect place to fuel that obsession. Head to Circuit of the Americas Karting Track, home of Formula 1, where kids can try out safe, age-appropriate racing. For a STEM twist, Mad Science of Austin runs camps where kids can design and test their own cars and contraptions — the perfect way to combine speed with science.
🩰 The Ballet Dancer
Some kids slip on a tutu for Halloween — and then never take it off. At Tutu School, kids as young as 6 months can start ballet and creative movement classes. The Dance Spot and Balance Dance Studios also offer beginner-friendly programs where little ballerinas (and ballerinos!) can twirl, leap, and bring their living room performances to life.

👑 The Princess (or Queen Elsa, specifically)
If your child is in a full-blown Frozen era — belting Let It Go daily and refusing to change out of their Elsa dress — lean in. Cordovan Art School often hosts Frozen-inspired art workshops where kids can paint and create with an icy twist. Or head to ZACH Theatre, where drama classes let kids step into their royal roles (no matter the costume of choice).
🦸 The Superhero
Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman — whatever the cape of choice, these kids want to soar. Urban Air Adventure Park and Altitude Trampoline Park let kids “fly” and flip safely. For a skills-building option, Champions Westlake and Capital Gymnastics offer tumbling and gymnastics programs perfect for little superheroes in training.

🧑🚀 The Astronaut
For the kid who can’t stop talking about rockets or insists on wearing a helmet everywhere, there are plenty of ways to spark that curiosity. Thinkery’s science labs and exhibits are hands-on and space-obsessed. For a more structured program, iCode Austin runs coding and robotics camps that let kids experiment like real engineers and explorers.
⚽ The Athlete
When the sports uniform is the costume, you know what to do: sign them up for the real thing. i9 Sports runs leagues for soccer, basketball, flag football, and more. For younger kids, Sportball Austin introduces multiple sports through fun, play-based instruction.

🍳 The Chef
For kids who love playing restaurant at home, Kids Chem Cook offers real cooking classes designed just for children. They’ll measure, stir, and taste their way through recipes — and maybe even start helping with dinner at home.
Costumes Don’t Have to End on Halloween
Halloween is the start, not the end, of a phase. With Recess, you can turn those costumes and obsessions into real-world Austin experiences your kids will love — and maybe even discover a lifelong passion along the way.
