In this six-week class, young artists will explore storytelling through characters, comics, and zines. Students will learn the building blocks of comic creation---from character design to panel layout, pacing, and dialogue. Each week includes drawing warm-ups, creative prompts, and mini projects that build toward a final comic of their own. Along the way, they'll explore short-form comics, design original characters, and experiment with fun formats like zines and full-page panels. Perfect for kids who love to draw, write, and dream up stories! This new class is taught by Jo, who is a visual artist and illustrator + recent graduate of Maryland Institute College of Art.

Art Club isn't your typical afterschool extracurricular. With a playful approach and lots of hands-on fun, this class is all about exploring, creating, and enjoying every moment of the artistic journey! * Each semester we'll complete several projects. Some take one class, some take a few. * We'll be collaging, sculpting, printmaking, painting, weaving, assembling and more! * We take inspiration from the kids- noticing their interests to help us decide what the next project will be. * We encourage creative thinking by being a YES space! In this fun and engaging preschool art class, children explore a variety of materials, from paints and pastels to clay and fabric. They work on individual and group projects that encourage creativity and imagination, all while developing fine motor skills and learning to collaborate with their peers. Children must be potty trained. We are unable to assist children in the bathroom in any way. There's nothing we love more than a mini world scene here at Saplings Studio! Kids will design and build their very own Winter Wonderland—complete with snowy rooftops, shimmering snowflakes, colorful houses, skating rinks, Christmas tree farms, and anything else their imaginations dream up. Camps days also include outdoor imaginative play in our amazing Art Yard (weather permitting), and time in our maker space and sensory rooms. Campers will need lunch, snack and water.

Okay, these keep selling out so let's do it one last time for 2025! Kids will make microphones to sing their little hearts out with! They'll also make Saja Boys or Huntrx band posters. It will be the best day with so much singing, dancing and ART! Campers will need lunch, snack and water.

A favorite project from last year! Kids will paint wooden wall hangings to look like colorful disco balls. We'll add silver leaf, mirror tiles and lots of glitter for sparkle. They always turn out soooo good! Campers will need lunch, snack and water.

In this camp, kids will dream big, think boldly, and create their very own vision boards for the year ahead! Using magazines, colorful papers, stickers, markers, and all kinds of fun art supplies, each child will design a board that reflects their goals, interests, and the things that make them feel excited and confident. We’ll guide kids through playful prompts, then turn those ideas into a vibrant collage they can hang at home for daily motivation. It’s a joyful mix of creativity, self-expression, and positive thinking, perfect for starting the new year Campers will need lunch, snack and water.

Adopt a penguin stuffie and create a winter wonderland home for it! Kids will make winter clothing for their new penguin pet too! Combining our favorite activities - pet adoption and mini worlds. Campers will need lunch, snack and water.
