Recess Recs: CrossFit Central Kids Summer Camp
If your kid is bouncing off the walls and you’re dreaming of a little “me time” to fit in your own workout, CrossFit Central’s Kids Program might just be the parenting win you’ve been waiting for.

This energizing, confidence-building program is hosted right here in Austin and offers a smart, supportive way for kids to move their bodies, build strength, and have a blast doing it. Even better? It’s scheduled so parents can squeeze in their own workout while the kids are getting their fitness fix.
Why Kids Love It
This isn’t your average after-school activity. Kids come for the movement and stay for the high fives, group games, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from learning something new. It’s fast-paced, upbeat, and never boring.
Expect:
- Obstacle courses
- Mini challenges
- Team workouts
- Encouragement every step of the way
Whether your child is brand new to fitness or already loves being active, this program meets them at their level and keeps them coming back for more.
Why Parents Love It
Let’s be real—finding something your kid loves and gives you a window to take care of yourself? That’s gold. The CrossFit Central schedule is designed with parents in mind, so you can hop into a workout of your own at the same time your kid is getting theirs in.
It’s a win-win:
- You both get your workouts done in one stop.
- You set a great example of prioritizing wellness.
- You avoid the dreaded “I’m bored” post-school slump.
Bonus: the endorphins work for grown-ups too.
If you’ve ever wondered how to channel your kid’s boundless energy into something fun and productive, CrossFit Central’s Kids Program might just be your new best friend. In the video below, a fellow parent shares how this dynamic program has helped their child build confidence, strength, and a real love for movement—no burpees required (well, maybe a few). Let’s hear how it’s making an impact, straight from someone who’s seen it in action.
A Word From the CrossFit Team
Hi, I’m Eva from CrossFit Central, and I lead our Kids Speed & Agility Program designed for kids ages 6 to 12. Our goal is to keep kids moving in fun, intentional ways — building confidence, coordination, and body awareness through age-appropriate drills and games. We focus on foundational movement skills like footwork, balance, and reaction time, all in an upbeat group setting that makes fitness feel like play. When kids feel strong and capable in their bodies, they carry that confidence with them everywhere — in sports, in school, and in life.
Q1: Why is it important for kids to do speed and agility training at a young age?
“These years are critical for motor development. Speed and agility drills help kids develop balance, coordination, quickness, and body control — all of which set the stage for lifelong movement success. Whether they’re future athletes or just active kids, these skills help them move safely and confidently.”
Q2: What are some of the biggest benefits you see in kids who stay active?
“I see kids who are more focused, more confident, and simply happier. Staying active builds physical strength, but it also helps with emotional regulation, social connection, and resilience. Movement is such a powerful tool for whole-child health.”
Q3: How do you keep the sessions fun and engaging for younger kids?
“We turn training into play. Every drill is designed to feel like a game — races, relays, reaction drills — and we constantly change things up to keep them guessing. We cheer for effort, celebrate small wins, and make it all about trying your best.”
Q4: What makes your program at CrossFit Central different?
“We blend expert coaching with a positive, inclusive environment. Our sessions aren’t just about getting faster — they’re about helping kids move better and feel better. We teach them to celebrate progress, support each other, and move with intention.”
